This document will help you in understanding the concept of Causes and determinants of Prosocial Behavior
Collectivism: A situation where helping benefits the in-group members.
Conformity: Refers to the going along with the crowd phenomena whether it is good or bad.
Egoism: A situation where helping benefits the helper and he gets rewards or escapes punishment.
Negative-state relief: A condition where people feel bad but they are willing to help. Sadness is found to facilitate helping in a few conditions.
Principalism: A situation where helping occurs because there is a moral imperative. People are guided by what is right and wrong, what is good and bad.
Reciprocity: A condition where people behave in a prosocial manner with an expectation of repayment. There is a tacit understanding between the people that help has to be returned in kind whenever sought.
